LogosMindWell, the innovative new mental health information site for people in Leeds, facilitated by mHabitat, has been awarded a place on the Digital Leaders 100 list – one of the UK’s top digital accolades.

The independent list celebrates teams and individuals from the UK’s public, private and non-profit sectors who are ‘blazing a trail’ in the digital space.

MindWell provides an online ‘hub’ for anyone living or working in Leeds, including GPs and other professionals, to get quick and easy access to up-to-date mental health information. It brings together resources and information from the NHS, the third sector and Leeds City Council into one single ‘go to’ place. Users of the site can get information about support and services available in Leeds as well as self-help tools and information about common issues like anxiety, stress and depression.

MindWell has been accepted into the DL100 2017 list in the category of Cross Sector Digital Collaboration of the Year. It was created through a city-wide collaboration, led by mHabitat, which includes NHS Leeds North Clinical Commissioning Group who funded the project; Volition, a network of third sector organisations that support people’s mental health in Leeds; Leeds Mind; Leeds City Council and Leeds Involving People, a service users’ and carers’ organisation.

It’s not the first honour that the website has received since it went live last October – mHabitat won the Patient Engagement Award at the Medilink Yorkshire and Humber Healthcare Business Awards 2017 in March for leading the ‘co-creation’ work to develop the new site. Hundreds of people from across the city have been engaged in the process. Members of the public, service users and carers together with GPs, clinicians and support workers have all taken part in surveys, user testing and open workshops run by Yoomee, the digital agency who built the site.

Alicia Ridout, Deputy Director of mHabitat, said: “We are very proud that MindWell has been recognised by the DL100 list in the category Cross Sector Digital Collaboration of the Year. Developing MindWell through collaboration with partners and people across the city has been vital in creating a site that meets the needs of the people who are now using it.

The positive response to the launch of MindWell has been overwhelming – it received 4000 visits in the first three weeks alone. We know that people in the city are using the site to get information for themselves or to help someone they are worried about. All kinds of professionals from GPs, mental health support workers, librarians and employers are using it as well – to help the people that they support or care for. MindWell is leading the way in showing how innovative digital approaches can help people to access the right health care information and support when they need it.”

A public vote is now open to put the DL100 finalists into an order. Voting takes place until 12 noon on 9 June. The final list order will be announced at the DL100 Awards Dinner in London on 22 June.
